The kitchen is the heart of the home
As they say, the kitchen is the heart of the home, a place where families and friends convene to share good food and good fun, but here in the South, our days outdoors are literally numbered. Perhaps that is why we, as well as many others all over America, are taking our beloved kitchens and recreation rooms OUT and onto the patio! Today's trends in outdoor kitchen design are creating an entirely new way of looking at cooking and entertaining.

The components of the outdoor kitchen can vary greatly consisting of anything from your basic grill with a side burner on a cozy backyard patio to a full kitchen with multiple appliances -- including the kitchen sink -- on an elaborately landscaped terrace! A wide variety of specialty appliances can be commonly found in your typical outdoor kitchen. First and foremost is the grill. allowing for the highest level of versatility in configuration. And, of course, this grill is available with dual side burners. In addition to the grill, another common outdoor kitchen appliance is the warming drawer. As your steaks and corn on the cob are coming to a finish, your warming drawer offers the perfect spot for dinner rolls, or perhaps some baked beans. This is the ideal piece for outdoor
entertaining assuring that all the food you put on the table is warm and fresh.

Higher-end outdoor kitchens

Weatherproof appliances
While weatherproof appliances are an important aspect of today's
outdoor
kitchens, water and weather-proof materials are also an important part of the
design. An endless variety of tile can be used on the "floor," backsplash, fireplaces, and countertops. Anything from glass, ceramic, and natural stone are common and create equally unique looks. Most designers find this feature a great opportunity to get creative and produce a true work of art for their clients. Countertop material can vary from natural stone surfaces, like granite and soapstone, to tile, or perhaps integrated stainless steel, all of which can withstand changes in the weather.
Other imaginative components in
outdoor
kitchens may include wood burning stoves, fireplaces, wet bars, deck heaters, custom pergolas, a microwave drawer, or commercial style sink sprayers. As people continue to spend more and more time at home with their friends and families,
outdoor
kitchens offer an entirely new way to cook, eat and entertain. The possibilities are endless, so continue to eat, drink and entertain in style.
